Bug Description

[Rationale]

In the Edubuntu Unity and Gnome-Fallback sessions, Nepomuk Backup and Nepomuk File Indexing Controller still appears in the menus.

These are only really useful in KDE, and to hide them, we added override desktop entries that were placed in /usr/share/ubuntu/applications.

In precise, this path changed to /usr/share/ubuntu/gnome-fallback for the fallback session.

[Impact]

Users see two extra menu entries that shouldn't be there. It's low-impact, but it's a regression.

[Test Case]

In the Gnome Fallback session, click on Applications and navigate to System Tools. There should be no Nepomuk entries.
Do the test in both with and without effect mode as the sessions are different.

[Regression Potential]

Please add if any.

Hello Jonathan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted edubuntu-artwork into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/edubuntu-artwork/12.04.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

The path on 12.04 is /usr/share/gnome-classic/ not /usr/share/gnome-fallback, so the current package just doesn't fix anything.

I fixed and re-uploaded to precise-proposed with the proper path.

Jonathan: Please check that 12.10 indeed now uses /usr/share/gnome-fallback and if not, please upload a similar fix to 12.10.

  * Path in previous upload was wrong, 12.04 uses /usr/share/gnome-classic
    not /usr/share/gnome-fallback. (LP: #1032256)

edubuntu-artwork (12.04.2) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * Fix path for desktop file entries (LP: #1032256)

This bug was fixed in the package edubuntu-artwork - 12.08.1

---------------
edubuntu-artwork (12.08.1) quantal; urgency=low

  * Actually it turns out that gnome-fallback can use either of
    /usr/share/gnome-classic or /usr/share/gnome-fallback depending on
whether it's started with or without effects, so putting overrides in
    both directories. (LP: #1032256)

Tested the new one (still can't believe it took us 3 upload to get two lines right...), anyway, this one works fine on all fallback sessions.
