Bug Description

Just installed Evolution 3.6.0 on Ubuntu and (with the first-run dialog) restored my data from a backup (made with Evolution 3.4, Debian). Evolution restarted and presented me with the firts-run dialog again (and kept doing that).

I manually entered an email account to proceed to the program: My contacts were restored, only 1 of 3 calendars ('personal') was restored and only the manually entered email account was present (but emails are restored).

So it appears that email data are restored, but not the accounts. And only the default 'personal' calendar is restored, not additional calendars.

Evolution 3.6.0
Ubuntu quantal (development branch)
Release: 12.10
AMD64

Happened to me, too. Evo unpacked about 2gb of mails, but forgot the accounts, settings, etc. The "local inbox" (I don't use it) was restored successfully.

I'd expected Evolution to restore my settings and account information. All the mail is on IMAP servers anyways.

This still happens for me on the released version of Ubuntu 12.10, with all updates as of October 20. The symptoms are as above - Evolution "restores" my 1.2 GB of mail and then starts the first-run dialog all over again.

My backup file was made on a system running Ubuntu 12.04.

Confirmed for Ubuntu 12.10: my 126 Mb .tar.gz file is "restored" and then the first-run dialog appears again. The backup was made under 12.04.

One I had manually entered my POP and SMTP informantion, I eventually discovered that the import had worked, but the original import session gave no indication that this was the case.

I think this problem is not strictly limited to restoring backups but happens in general when upgrading from an earlier version of evolution (e.g. the one in Precise) to 3.6.0 (in Quantal).

While calendar and contact data is still there, account information somehow got lost during the upgrade.
