Bug Description

Since I updated to Quantal (or, rather, re-installed, but kept /home), VLC doesn't inhibit the screensaver anymore when playing videos (even in fullscreen mode), even though the option is checked.
So, after 10 minutes of watching, the screen suddenly turns black (it doesn't even fade slowly, like it usually does) and I have to move the mouse or press a key to see the video again.

Could be related to this bug, but I thought it's too old to be still active: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/428884
At least I hope so …

To me it happens also with Totem and during the playback of Internet flash videos.

I think I've found some sort of a solution to the problem: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=269183
Installing the xscreensaver solved the issue for me. I haven't restarted yet, but I think it'll keep working after that.
I'm using GNOME 3.6, by the way.

Hope this helps you solving the issue.
