Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Description of the problem:
Every time a nautilus window is resized a window manager warning is logged in ~/.xsession-errors .

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a gnome-terminal .
2. Type tail -f ~/.xsession-errors .
3. Go to Places -> Desktop.
3. Go to the bottom right hand corner of the "(Desktop - File Browser)" window and click on the grippy.

Expected result:
No extra messages to appear in ~/.xsession-errors .

Actual result:
Output like the following is added:
Window manager warning: Received a _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE message for 0xc05286 (Desktop - ); these messages lack timestamps and therefore suck.

How reproducible is this problem?
The problem is reproducible every time.

Version information:
Ubuntu Feisty
nautilus 2.18.1-0ubuntu1

might be due to GTK+, marking duplicate of bug #109156, we can open tasks there if that turns to be something to change to every applications generating the warning

This is still happening in gutsy beta. Trying to resize the window basically darkens the current window and the application performance drags down. and the behavior continues for all other windows. Restarting X brings the machine back to normal state. I've compiz enabled with XGL.

running compiz --replace as trying to debug an issue with lucid Beta 2 and I get the following output -

Window manager warning: 0x4600028 (Social bro) appears to be one of the offending windows with a timestamp of 1271002643. Working around...
Window manager warning: Received a _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE message for 0x4600028 (Social bro); these messages lack timestamps and therefore suck.

while the error output is helpful surely a user seeing "these messages lack timestamps and therefore suck." is not at all helpful and should have a more appropriate error message displayed
