Bug Description

Starting G-c-c from the trerminal I managed to get the following error trying to connect via wifi to my printer (this works flawlessly in quantal)

davmor2@stryder:~$ gnome-control-center

(gnome-control-center:9145): printers-cc-panel-WARNING **: "Photosmart-5520-series" is not a valid printer name.

(gnome-control-center:9145): printers-cc-panel-WARNING **: Installation of the new printer failed.

This is the name that the printer gives itself and is not editable that I can tell.

As system-config-printer works, it must be a bug in the GNOME printer setup tool.

I have never done anything on the code of the tool. Marek Kasik from Red Hat is working on it upstream. I have informed him now.

This bug was fixed in the package cups-pk-helper - 0.2.4-0ubuntu5

---------------
cups-pk-helper (0.2.4-0ubuntu5) raring; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/git_revert_stricter_validating.patch:
    - backport upstream commit, the validation code was too strict which
      was preventing some users to configure their printer,
      thanks Till Kamppeter for finding the patch to backport (lp: #1101213)
