Bug Description
I am using an old Sony Vaio PCG-XG19 and am testing Kubuntu Gutsy tribe1. When I boot from the CD (prior to doing any install) I will see it boot and then start the KDE session. It gets into the KDE desktop, and I see it open a window that says something like "scanning trash:/". This stays on the screen for a while. What happens next varies. Sometimes it proceeds normally - the window closes and the desktop is fine. Sometimes I hear the "stinger" sound as though something crashed. On at least several occasions the machine completely locked up, as in no movement of the cursor when I touched the mousepad.
It did this in both normal and safe graphics modes.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Is this the i386 or amd64 version of the Kubuntu CD? Did you verify the md5sum of the media and / or run the media self check? Thanks in advance.
