When on a laptop Packard Bell Centrino 1.7 Ghz I make a dd from /dev/sdbx to /dev/sdcx, both external mass storage usb2, the transfer rate is extremely low, from 0.4 Mb/s to 2.3 Mb/s, instead of the usual 16.7-17.8 Mb/s from esternal usb to internal hdd (/dev/hda1).
Summary of system: Packard Bell EASYNOTE R8770 1Gb ram expanded, Kubuntu 7.04, kernel 2.6.20-16-generic

Good afternoon,

I have a Dell laptop that I use external USB drives all the time on and I have not noticed any problems copying between USB drives. The speed is actually quite well for transfering. Just wanted to add to the bug report. Both on 7.10 and 7.04.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description doesn't yet have enough information.
Please include as attachments the following additional information, if you have not already done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command 'uname -a' in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command 'dmesg > dmesg.log' and attach the resulting file 'dmesg.log' to this bug report.
3. Please run the command 'sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log' and attach the resulting file 'lspci-vvnn.log' to this bug report.
For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Thanks in advance!

It would be helpful to have the output of 'dmesg' after you experience the issue. Thanks again!
