Bug Description

Currently on Saucy, darktable 1.2.2-2ubuntu1 crashes[1] any time I try to export Canon RAW photos.

Although I haven't yet tracked down the cause of this crash, I do know that merging darktable 1.2.3-1 from Debian testing (or unstable, same version) fixes it. So I think I can make a pretty strong case for why this should get a Feature Freeze Exception:

 * Even if this crash[1] only effects Canon users, it means darktable in Saucy is completely useless for Canon users (who probably make up the largest group of RAW photo users on Ubuntu); it's likely this crash also effects Nikon users, etc, although I haven't confirmed that yet

 * The upstream darktable 1.2.3 release[2] seems like a low-risk release focused on stability and security fixes, and additional hardware support

 * System76 recently did some marketing around darktable[3], so it would make us look a bit silly if this photography workflow wasn't actually possible on Ubuntu 13.10 (a regression)

 * There's no short way to present the evidence for this, but Ubuntu is well positioned at an opportune time to pick up pro-creative users from some "other platform", so let's please always put our best foot forward :)

Note that when I encountered this crash, my first thought was an ABI change in some dependency, but alas, a rebuild didn't fix it.

If it's bugfix only, no FFe needed.

Gotcha, thanks! So no FFe needed, even when it's a new upstream release? (Albeit a minor-ish point release.)

Should I change the title of the bug? Anything special I need to do to get this reviewed and merged?

Done. We care about the content of the release, not the number it's labeled with. As long as it's no new features, no FFe is needed.

Thanks, Scott! Not sure if I needed to do a merge proposal still, but here it is:
