Bug Description

On Ubuntu 13.04, glom crashes at startup, with a libxml error, like so:

(glom:28423): glibmm-ERROR **:
unhandled exception (type std::exception) in signal handler:
what: Error code from xmlParseChunk(): 111

This was caused by a change of behaviour in libxml and was fixed in upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710358#c1

A new stable release is available, with other fixes too. Updating to the new stable release would fix this critical bug.

Thanks for reporting this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

This crash still happens when I attempt to start glom on Ubuntu Trusty. I found bug 1098814 which is a request to package a newer version of the package, which should fix this issue.

I have uploaded a new package of the lastest glom 1.22 release to the Openismus PPA, which people could use on Ubuntu Saucy in the absence of a bug-fix update to the official package:
https://launchpad.net/~openismus-team/+archive/ppa

For years it's been near impossible for upstream Glom (me) to get bugfixes deployed to Ubuntu's official packages.

Uploaded, thanks!

@Murray: Did you ever consider applying for per-package uploader rights? Also, the sponsoring queue (http://reqorts.qa.ubuntu.com/reports/sponsoring/index.html) isn't too bad these days either.
