Default fixed width font is "sans"

Bug Description
In a clean, fresh install of Gutsy tribe 3, the default "fixed width" font is "Sans" 12 which is not a fixed width font.

I am not sure fontconfig is the right package, but sure there they should be able to redirect on the right one.
Maybe this have been fixed. Appearance/ Fonts for 'Fixed width'.
On Gutsy Kubuntu updated I have Monospace 9 for my KDE session.
That is in System settings/
And, once I installed Gnome-Core (almost all, gedit stayed uninstalled, so officially gnome-core too), Preferences/ Appearance (Fonts tab), I have Monospace 10.

So, if you update, do you still have "Sans 12"?
