translate this application should open new window

Bug Description

Binary package hint: launchpad-integration

I started openoffice.org from the current gutsy d-i 20070823, with firefox already running. When I select "Help / Translate this application" or "Help / Support", it opens a new tab in my existing browser rather than a new window.

This is confusing. Menu items and other similar tools which open web pages should open them in new firefox windows. That ensures that the content appears where the user can see it (on top, on the current workspace) and that the user can close it normally and so on.

Thank you for your bug. That looks like bug #94166. Could you run "gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command" and verify the value is "firefox %s"? Does running "firefox -remote URL" opens a new window correctly?

Yes, the value of http/command is "firefox %s", as expected.

I typed firefox -remote http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/ and it said
Error: Failed to send command: 500 command not parseable
(FYI: copy-typed, not c&p)

I confirm that a new instance of firefox is not opened, but rather that a new tab.

The syntax mentionned was not correct, could you try using "firefox -remote 'openURL(URL, new-window)'"?
