Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Installer Crash

Bug Description

Hello
im not sure how to post a bug report, last time i tried they said more info is needed
im also new to linux/Ubuntu so im not sure yet how everything works
i will try once more with posting a bug report with all the info i have

First i booted the Live CD, then i clicked the install icon
then
chose language - English
set time zone - Hawaii GMT -10:00
set keyboard layout - English
input name, computer name and password
then chose Format Entire Hard Drive
then hit next and click install
it got up to about 86% - Setting the Clock
ive tried installing about 7 times allready each time it crashes at a different %80+
so... after i did all that a window popped up and said

We're sorry; the installer crashed.

for some reason the file var\log\installer\syslog is blank/empty - nothing in it

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Looking at your log file there are a lot of messages like "lost page write due to I/O error on sda1". Are you certain that your hard drive is in good working order? Thanks in advance.
