I am using Ubuntu Hardy, but this bug is valid for every Ubuntu version. Maybe this is rather a wish than a bug, I have seen the big font on every Ubuntu installation I have come across. I think that this bug (or wish) is present on every Ubuntu installation. The font size can be changed by setting the vga kernel parameter in /boot/grub/menu.lst.
You can find out how to set the vga parameter value in this forum: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/debian-26/lilo-vga-modes-152575/
I don't know which package is this bug related to...
The bug is not related to gnome-terminal, in gnome-terminal the font is OK,
I am speaking about the terminal you see after pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1.

How big is that? Are you sure this is a bug? Maybe you should send a screenshot. Until that I'm closing this bug.
