Bug Description

This is a feature request for Ubuntu 16.10:

Optimized kprobes support for powerpc :
This feauture aims to enhance the performance of kprobes. Currently, whenever a probe is placed in the kernel using the kprobes infrastructure, it places a trap instruction at that place. This feature will replace the trap with a branch thereby reducing the probe overhead drastically.

Please update this feature with the outstanding actions needed for this to be ready for 17.04.

The latest version has been posted here:

It has been acked by the Kprobes maintainer and is awaiting powerpc maintainer review. We expect this to land in kernel v4.11.
