Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

network-manager-vpnc upon setting up and connecting to a profile prompts you for a password in the following way:

You need to authenticate to access the Virtual Private Network "<name>".
Password [ ]
Group Password [ ]
(Actually 2 seperate passwords)

I first saw this page and entered my group password twice; mainly out of confusion...
(i only saw the name of my vpn connection 'cri' which also happens to be my PSK group name)

This lead me down a spiral of 'tail /var/log/syslog' (which said nothing about a bad password for my username)...

I believe this is an easy fix;
You need to authenticate to access the Virtual Private Network "<name>".
User Password [ ]
Group Password [ ]

Hi there
do you still experience this issue with the current version of the application?, could you please try to reproduce this using the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron.

Thanks in advance

Using the current live environment I cannot currently see VPN connections in the network-manager.

I only see 'configure / disconnect' as options. Even after setting up multiple VPN connections under configure.

Unrelated bug? I will try and fix this problem (make sure i have the latest version) before providing further information on this bug.

Cheers

My take is that this is fixed in Jaunty, with the configuration dialog asking to save or otherwise keep the passwords, or not use them if they aren't necessary. Could someone confirm this?

Marking Invalid; no response it almost two years; plus it's more or less fixed -- you have the clear option of using the password or not, further UI changes would be possible but should ideally come upstream.
