Bug Description

Hmmm... my system became slower, then froze, then X restarted.
This was in /var/log/syslog:

This does not mean that it was korgac using the memory, just that it was it's allocation that caused oom-killer to start killing some processes. If this is repeating, you should investigate with top which processes are actually using most of the memory. If you find out that it is korgac using extensive amount of memory, feel free to reopen the bug.

Running ubuntu 8.10
kernel is 2.6.27.11

Same thing. Something is invoking oom-killer constantly. No abnormal activity on system monitor. No system freeze(at least not because of that problem... I think. look at my post https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/331477 for more info).

In attachment part of my log from night computer activity. Highest memory usage processes were transmision and avant window navigator. Nothing else. My log is full of oom-killer rampaging my system. In the morning I had several application crashed(network manager, fast user switch applet) and some just killed like avant window navigator. I still have issue with gnome session commands.

Really I can't imagine how can programs like transmision or awn cause something like this.
