Bug Description

32Bit Artful Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 Alpha 2

Used a 40GB virtualbox HDD.

Installed 32bit UB ok

Subsequently restarted the installed on the ISO to test the autoresize capability. I dragged the slider all the way to the left for the installed OS to shrink it.

After clicking to install the error displayed is "Resize operation failure", "An error occurred while writing the changes to the storage devices", "The resize operation has been aborted".

I rebooted and tried the autoresize again but this time allowed approxed 2GB extra from the minimum size - the installation succeeded ok.

Tried the same thing, using a 31GB virtualbox HDD, with 64bit Ubuntu Budgie, version 20170725.1

Installed and subsequently booted into a side-by-side install using the minimum partition size allowed.

Maybe it's a 32bit problem, or it's been fixed in the current image?

tried also 64bit latest alpha 2 image. 40GB virtualbox HDD - again
the same issue occurred. Odd that it doesnt occur with a 31GB HDD but
does with 40GB.

The installer should have prompted you to file a bug report and automatically attach /var/log/syslog. We need the logs to diagnose the problem.

syslog attached.

This issue occurs with the final 17.10 release candidate.

Testing the 32bit version.

Looking at the syslog, whatever the installer minimum space calculation is, it is calculated a bigger space than parted.
