Bug Description

I have successfully booted machines of various manufacture from the daily CDs from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/dapper/daily/20071207.2/ that I burned here. Despite this, neither the i386 and amd64 CDs will boot on our IBM x3200. I get a message saying that the kernel is starting, and then some PCI output errors. The system is completely unresponsive for at least 15 minutes, and then a message appears saying that the log daemons are starting. At this point a Ctrl-Alt-Del will reboot, but leaving it running even overnight did not make any progress in the boot process.

Once I figured out how to turn off "quiet" in the boot options (odd default for a server install CD!) I got the output depicted in the second attachment. It looks as though it may have trouble with the SCSI driver. This may be related to a problem I see on an x3500 (bug to be filed shortly) where the system does boot but seems unable to detect the SAS drives.

This behavior exists in the current Dapper release as well.
