Bug Description

Last Firefox Automatic update (I presume to v59.0) occurred. In any case, the last automatic update about 3/16/18

Firefox seems to operate correctly other than the below :

Description: Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS
Release: 16.04

firefox:
  Installed: 59.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Candidate: 59.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Version table:
 *** 59.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 500
        500 http://mirror.picosecond.org/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages
        500 http://mirror.picosecond.org/ubuntu xenial-security/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     45.0.2+build1-0ubuntu1 500
        500 http://mirror.picosecond.org/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages

Icon should match size of other icons, or be adjustable by normal methods.

I have the same problem. The package installed in my computer is: 59.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

This package puts icons of several sizes in:
/usr/lib/firefox/browser/chrome/icons/default

but it only puts one icon in the directory
/usr/share/icons/hicolor

namely in:
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/firefox.png

How long until the fix shows up in a real-world update, or will that even happen in a way that will fix the current installation?

If not, how can I fix this directly ? If I manually put different size icons into the apps folders eg /usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps, will the normal resizing now work?

Jeremy Bícha (jbicha) wrote :

Roger, you could use the Firefox Beta PPA until Firefox 60 is released or you could make the symlinks yourself:

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps/firefox.png

should point to
/usr/lib/firefox/browser/chrome/icons/default/default64.png

for instance. Do the same for the 16, 32, and 48 sizes also.

Changed in firefox (Ubuntu):
status: Fix Committed → Fix Released
