Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-notifier
When booting the daily build from 20080109 update-notifier appeared as a stop / warning sign and said "Error communicating with backend. Please report this bug." In '/var/log/
Log started: 2008-01-09 08:05:27
Can not write log, openpty() failed (/dev/pts not mounted?)

TEST CASE:
PROCEDURE:
1) Boot Live CD
2) Wait for desktop to load
3) Mouse over update-notifier icon in tray
RESULT ON PASS:
1) Icon has no error message
RESULT ON FAIL:
1) Notice message "Error communicating with backend"
