Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany-extensions

System: Xubuntu Hardy

epiphany-browser 2.22.0-0ubuntu5
epiphany-extensions 2.22.0-0ubuntu1

When enabling the Error Viewer extension in Epiphany, the Check HTML function is greyed out in the Tools menu. Disabling and re-enabling the extension (under Extensions) makes it active, but throws this error when trying to validate a webpage:

Error viewer: No valid doctype specified.

This happens on every webpage that is validated. Maybe a required package is not installed?

Terminal output gives back an error as well when Check HTML is invoked, but i'm not sure if this error is related:

(epiphany-browser:9924): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `MozillaEmbed' to `GtkMozEmbed'

** (epiphany-browser:9924): CRITICAL **: void gtk_moz_embed_get_nsIWebBrowser(GtkMozEmbed*, nsIWebBrowser**): assertion `GTK_IS_MOZ_EMBED(embed)' failed

** (epiphany-browser:9924): WARNING **: Could not get nsIScriptError

Ubuntu Hardy Epiphany 2.22.1.1 with Epiphany extensions. Check links and Check HTML greyed out. Disable then enable Error Viewer brings the chers back but changing pages or tabs will grey them out again.

I can confirm this bug exists in Epiphany-Browser with epiphany-extensions installed.
It can be reproduced at any time by doing the following:
1. Open a web page in Epiphany
2. Open Tools menu
3. Tools -> Check Links and Tools -> Check HTML are both greyed out.
4. Open Extensions
    Uncheck and recheck Error Viewer
5. The items Tools -> Check Links and Tools -> Check HTML will now be functional until you change tabs or web sites.

Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.

I am forwarding this to Gnome Bugzilla Epiphany.

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
