Bug Description

In both Movie Player and MPlayer the colours are totally 'of' when playing movies. Very like 'colour infrared' films. Pink grass etc. Gxine did not even open the files at all, but that might have different causes. I just installed the Beta of Hardy and have all the updates.
Thank you in advance

same thing is happening with plug in player for mozilla. Colour is predominantly purple and green. This whole problem was not the case with Hardy Alpha 6.
Thanx

Sorry, but I think another ad- on is necessary. I tried to play streaming news media from the net this morning. Colour was fine. I thought the problem was fixed and played movie. Colour was still way off. (Same as above). I returned to the news stream and that also had changed back to the purple and green.
This only has happened after one of the updates. I do not believe that it has anything to do with my Nvidia card. I have been running Ubuntu since Edgy (on the same computer) and have never experienced anything like this before.
Other people have similar experiences. ( My post also)

I know that I am pushy, I also do not have a lot of computer knowledge and I probably brake every rule in this post. I do care about Linux and I believe that Ubuntu currently is the best Distro to convince more people that we do not need the Big Bully!
If I am right and it it is not a problem previously encountered it could involve a lot of other computers. The ability to play movies is very important!!
Please have a look into this.

Ok. Then this a problem with the graphics drivers. Are you running nvidia or nv?

As the forum bug refers to nvidia, and the gnome bug says that gstreamer should work round an nvidia bug, I've set this against nvidia, not totem.

I did not have the problem with Feisty or Hardy Alpha 6. Only since Hardy Beta. Setting 'Hue' in totem all the way to the right gets colours a bit more to normal. General quality suffers.

I can confirm this bug.

I could not take a screenshot as the overlay does not come up.

I'm using "nv" xorg driver with an nvidia fx5200 gfx card.

"mplayer -vo xv" gives me improper colours (As do vlc & totem)

I can see proper colours if I use "mplayer -vo x11" so that should be a hint.

Looks like an overlay issue, I can't say where the cause is. I updated today.

Using 2.6.24-19-rt kernel.

Ok, I checked http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306621

and sure enough, if I mess with the hue slider the colour for mplayer/vlc/totem is fixed!

changing the slider to the far left (as pictured in the attachment) fixes the display issue for me.

The bug appears to be in the totem settings.
