Bug Description
Binary package hint: kmix
Kubuntu Desktop i386 (20080417.1) (pre-RC) live session:
When I went to System Settings -> Sound System, and tried "Test Sound" button, it does play sound. (ok)
I hit the volume icon in tray, I choose "mixer" option, the KMix window does open. (ok)
The first column slider is Master Volume, works as expected (ok)
At the bottom there's horizontal Left/Right balance slider with "HDA Intel" label next to it, this one does NOT change the left/right balance, and also it brings the master volume slider down fast (and the real volume of sound gets down too). (bug)
Testing the same thing in installed Kubuntu 7.10:
everything works as expected, the L/R slider moves the balance left/right, the overall volume is not changed.
(although I don't see the master volume slider at all in 7.10's KMix)
On different PC with SiS Sl7012 (on-board AC97 kind of thing?) everything works ok, so it may be related to HDA Intel on-board audio only.
