Bug Description

Binary package hint: yelp

Start up yelp without arguments, so that it displays its table of contents. Click on any of the external links in that page - "free support", "commercial technical support", or "how to contribute". A dialog appears, entitled "Unable to load page", reading 'The requested URI "http://www.ubuntu.com/support/free" is invalid', which it clearly isn't.

I tested this using yelp package version 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 and was unable to recreate the bug report as new tab with the url opened in Firefox. What package version were you testing Colin?

It was on the final Hardy live CD; I'll try again and see if I can narrow it down. It does work for me on my normal system, but there have been no changes in yelp.

maybe the GNOME Preferred Application setting for http protocol is not properly setup on livecd?

System -> Preferences -> Preferred Applications -> Internet -> Web Browser shows Firefox.

strace shows yelp simply calling access("http://www.ubuntu.com/support/free", F_OK) and never trying to run firefox at all. Odd.

Since it's been a very long time since any additional info was added to this bug, I'm just checking to see if this is still an issue, and find out what additional work should be done on this bug.
