munin should depend on (or at least recommend) "cron"

Bug Description

Binary package hint: munin

Without cron "munin" is quite useless and therefore I think it should depend on it.
It's important that data gets fetched regularly from munin-node.

$ apt-cache show munin | egrep 'Depends|Recommends|Suggests|Version'
Version: 1.2.5-2ubuntu3
Depends: adduser, libdigest-md5-perl, libhtml-template-perl, librrds-perl, libstorable-perl, libtime-hires-perl, perl (>= 5.6.0-16), perl-modules (>= 5.8.0) | libparse-recdescent-perl, rrdtool
Recommends: libdate-manip-perl, munin-node
Suggests: httpd, www-browser

This is with Ubuntu Hardy, in a minimal OpenVZ container.

Re-opening, since I don't think a "suggest" is appropriate here: cron is _required_ actually, for querying the nodes and for updating the html pages (when not using "cgi mode" - which isn't default).
So it should be at least a recommendation.
Since "cron" is installed on most systems, this isn't a problem for most users, but if you install munin, without cron being installed, how is it supposed to work? (Note: I'm not talking about munin-node, which does not require cron).

It would be nice to get the Debian maintainer(s) opinion(s) on this. I think the bug should get forwarded therefore. What do you think?

Hi everybody.

Yes, I can confim this bug.
I use munin / munin-node in xen park. witch means i have a hardy dom0 and some hardy and deb4.0 domU. When i install muni without cron already installed, there are no files in the httpdir even after hours.

The domU was created with the tool from the xen-utils. I think it's called "domU-builder".

So it would be a realy good idea to depend munin on cron.

I moved it to munin-node (which ships the cronjob) and dropped it to a recommends, which is appropriate IMHO. Please forward this to Debian, too.
