Bug Description

Binary package hint: ia32-libs

Since approximately Firefox nightly 2008072602 (from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk ) starting Firefox fails with:

./firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libdbus-glib-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libdbus-glib-1.so.2 is among the installed 64 bit libraries but is missing under /usr/lib32/ (with ia32-libs installed).

This also affects Gizmo Project (www.gizmo5.com) which depends on this missing library.

I wrote up a workaround on my blog: http://drewp.quickwitretort.com/2008/10/19/0

   1. Go get the i386 version of libdbus-glib (http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/i386/libdbus-glib-1-2/download) and save the .deb file somewhere.
   2. Run "file-roller /tmp/libdbus-glib-1-2_0.74-2_i386.deb".
   3. Go into data.tar.gz -> . -> usr -> lib, and copy libdbus-glib-1.so.2.1.0 to your firefox 3.1 directory.
   4. Rename it to lose the ".1.0" at the end.

This bug was fixed in the package ia32-libs - 2.2ubuntu18

---------------
ia32-libs (2.2ubuntu18) intrepid; urgency=low

  * fetch-and-build.sh:
    - libcupsys2 -> libcups, unbreaks printing (LP: #276816)
    - Add libdbus-glib-1-2 (LP: #253430)
    - libbluetooth2 -> libbluetooth3 (recent bluez transition).
    - Drop libgnutls13 and libopencdk10, they do not exist any more.

Bug still exists for Hardy. Same work-around as above fixes it.
