Could you check if this bug exists in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid)?
I've backported ffmpeg packages from Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) to Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) and now I'm packaging kino 1.3.1 for Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) - I can include your patch if this is needed for kino 1.3.1 when using with ffmpeg from Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid
