Bug Description

After login Konqueror tries to load gmail.
When the blue progressbar is full and all images are loaded (status-bar), the window shows nothing.

A short foto-story...

Google has released a new version of Gmail that has an overhauled javascript codebase. This new code doesn't work in konqueror. It shows the "Loading" word and then konq gets stuck. This may not be visible to everyone yet as the new version hasn't been rolled out to all servers yet.

A work around for the time being is to force gmail to use the old code with the url mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1 . Note the "?ui=1" at the end of the url. This work around probably won't be available forever though since it's likely that google will drop this option.

Also you can spoof as "Firefox 1.0". Only newer version of Firefox are supported by the new interface

Same here. Kubuntu 7.10 with KDE 4.0.1

If you go to http://mail.google.com/mail?nocheckbrowser

The new version of Gmail is unusable with Konqueror in Kubuntu Hardy (3.5.9). "Browser not supported" Forcing Google to ignore browser isn't useful since it doesn't really work. It freezes and misbehaves. An easy workaround is to use the old version. But as Joe said above, Google will drop that option any time

We're dropping the -kde4 suffixes for packages in Intrepid, so changing accordingly here.

Gmail loads for me if I give the browser Identification as Mozilla 1.7 (for Konqueror 4.0.3). The gmail chat is not working and I cannot empty the trash or spam messages. More problems in browsing through gmail. But I think it is ok for me..

KDE 4.1.1 here, with both Intrepid and Hardy, Gmail STILL doesn't work on either.

Making Konqueror not identify as Firefox should make GMail use the HTML interface, it is less fancy but it works at least.

Invalid for kdebase as the default Konqueror renders the HTML interface just fine.

Tested with 4.2 RC1 - still does not work correctly with newest, coolest Gmail. I have to go to Browser Identification and tell Konqueror to lie and tell Gmail the browser is Mozilla 1.7.3 to get the older Gmail interface that works.

Oh, and you can reproduce all the problems with the newest Gmail by going to Browser Identification and telling Konqueror to lie and tell Google we're using Firefox 2.0.0.8.
