Bug Description

Binary package hint: transmission

I use Ubuntu 8.04 and repos not are updated (they contain 1.06 version, and lastest is 1.31 (08-08-08)).
In intrepid is 1.22-1.

Official site of Transmissión not provided .deb with lastest versión, only sources(see [1]). Ubuntu users need more alternatives than only compile sources. They need a .deb updated in the repos.

Dear Angel,

Hardy has been released so this can only be marked as a feature request for hardy-backports.
Intrepid reaches FeatureFreeze on the 28th so this could still make it. Can someone put this on the wishlist?

For more information on the Intrepid release process see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IntrepidReleaseSchedule

For if it helps, I found a guy who has created a repository maintaining the latest versions:
http://www.bortis.ch/fm/kab/?p=54 (repository with version 1.31 .deb (lastest))

In other hand, in hardy-backports the lastest version is 1.22 (as Intrepid).

I'd very much like to see 1.32 in Intrepid.

I hate when this happens. Ubuntu always ships its default applications that are like 10 versions behind. Grr.....

As far as a SRU update goes, would this even be a possibility? Daniel, if you or another dev think it is worth it, I'd be willing to do the paperwork and try to shepherd it into hardy-updates. Yet, on first look, I think this might be better suited to hardy-backports. Bug #208836 suggests that there would be some opposition to a SRU for this. As far as it goes though, with some minor changes (ie debhelper version and compat version) , this will build fine on Hardy...

I'd suggest to ask in #ubuntu-desktop for a SRU

Maybe somebody can follow up at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=494438 with the change we did to the package and link to its place in the archive? It'd be nice to ensure we have the same .orig.tar.gz

The transmission 1.32 package is missing the web directory
in /usr/share/transmission/ which is necessary for the web interface
