Bug Description

Binary package hint: wine

Running wine 1.0.0-1ubuntu10 on intrepid 64bit.

Had a need to print from a windows app so having a working cups supported printer in ubuntu expected to see it but get nothing only a dialog telling me to install a printer.

Nothing printer related in win.ini or the registry. Have tried creating a new .wine folder but with no effect.

Trying to print gives the following debug on the command line -

mike@PROG99:~$ notepad
fixme:winspool:WINSPOOL_EnumPrinters We don't handle PRINTER_ENUM_CONNECTIONS
mike@PROG99:~$

I don't think the problem is specific to 64 bit, as there is a 32 bit libcupsys driver included with ia32-libs that Wine builds against.

I also have this problem with 64bit ubuntu intrepid with wine, version 1.16 (newest version).
This is a very problematic bug, as there are applications, that even won't work without a printer.

The reason this happens is because ia32-libs lacks the new (renamed) libcups2 package. Instead it has the 32-bit version of the old name, which doesn't have any files. As a result, Wine can't find the libcups2 library when it builds, and disables it.

I'm marking this as invalid in Wine, though we'll have to rebuild the Wine package after ia32-libs is fixed. Hopefully my last Wine upload will come in after ia32-libs :)

This bug was fixed in the package ia32-libs - 2.2ubuntu18

---------------
ia32-libs (2.2ubuntu18) intrepid; urgency=low

  * fetch-and-build.sh:
    - libcupsys2 -> libcups, unbreaks printing (LP: #276816)
    - Add libdbus-glib-1-2 (LP: #253430)
    - libbluetooth2 -> libbluetooth3 (recent bluez transition).
    - Drop libgnutls13 and libopencdk10, they do not exist any more.

For the record, this fixed also acroread on amd64 (from medibuntu), which only was showing "Custom" printer (lpr). Now it lists all CUPS printers and their parameters, as it used to be on hardy.
