I would recommend instead keeping pd vanilla as is, and creating separate packages for externals, to avoid unmanageable dependencies and make sure pd is always installable.

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

pd-extended has been dead for almost a decade, while puredata is still active.

practically all packages from Pd-extended are available in Debian & Ubuntu (install them and more via the meta-package "multimedia-puredata".

so: i don't think that pd-extended will ever be packaged.
in any case, this would be a separate RFP bug (and is unrelated to the "puredata" pacakge)
