Bug Description

Hi

TEST CASE:
on a system without perl / perl-modules (only with perl-base) such as minimal virtual machine as created by ubuntu-vm-builder:

% perl -e 'use warnings "all"; chr(hex(323)) =~ /\p{IsAlpha}/'
Use of uninitialized value $x in scalar assignment at
/usr/share/perl/5.10/utf8_heavy.pl line 242.
Use of uninitialized value $x in pattern match (m//) at
/usr/share/perl/5.10/utf8_heavy.pl line 243.
Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at -e line 1.
Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at -e line 1.

the warnings go away when installing perl + perl-modules.

Bye

The solution in Debian's perl was to move usr/share/perl/5.10/unicore/lib from perl to perl-base

This bug affects all installs using the minimal seed, including JeOS (F4 - Install minimal virtual guest). It would be really nice to apply the patch that debian applied.
