Bug Description

Binary package hint: jabref

Intrepid version of jabref is still the 2.3.1 which carries a bug in the pdf database synchronization, that makes quite unusable the automatic pdf sync. From 1st September the 2.4 branch, which resolves this problem, is available (2.4.1/sept 2.4.2/oct 2.4.3/nov). Please update the package in the repository.

Confirmed. Jaunty currently has 2.3.1.

2.4.2 is the latest upstream stable version:

The 2.4 branch needs a bunch of additional java libraries which have
not yet been packaged.

JabRef Package Hack.

I have not applied patches from SF for version 2.4.2. The package can be installed on Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 (arch-i686). The MySQL export will not be functional, please check bug reports on SourceForge.

It is a hack from 2.3.1-5 ubuntu-src package to 2.4.2-src package downloaded from SF, I did not have any build problems related to missing libraries, although had only 2.3.1-5 build-deps installed.

I'm not surprised that there were no build problems, because the
needed libraries are shipped (pre-compiled, as .jars) in the lib/
directory of the JabRef tarball.

This doesn't not work under Debian Policy, that's why we need to
create packages for all of them.

(Please note that I can't make any statements about Ubuntu policy.)

Cheers,
gregor

I had checked the src before making package it had all that was needed jgoodies & other libraries. I am not aware of policy process but this is as I said "Hack", for someone who wants to use it. I do understand packaging all those libraries with JabREf is not the right way to do it , as this libraries are probably only used and not maintained by JabRef.

I had ubuntu in mind when I made the package, since I used previous source from ubuntu repository to understand the packaging logistics. Btw version 2.4.2 has been in existance for quite a while now.

I'm glad to see that Debian has now jabref 2.5. I hope it's also getting into karmic. Or do we have to wait for Lucid Lynx?

your PPA for jabref is no longer supported? When I visit https://launchpad.net/~ari-tczew/+archive/jabref it shows nothing. Where can I look to get the newer version?
