less volume controls after Intrepid install

Bug Description

Hi All,

I have installed Intrepid several times with the same result, I simply have less controls for my volume with alsamixergui (I have one control, where as before (with hardy) I had at least 4 or 5. I have an Inspiron 9400 with a 4.1 system (built in, four speakers one mini sub underneath the laptop). The system is solid and before alsamixer would allow me to control each speaker independently also the sub underneath so I could get a deeper sound.

I haven't tried installing Jaunty yet, I will try in the next few days and can say if the problem is still there. I have included two images, one is an alsamixergui image that I found on google but it looks very similar to what mine used to look like, the other one is the one I currently have which is only one control....which is disappointing when I have a decent laptop sound system to make it worth wild to have more than one control.

Thanks for the hard work

I have verified that this issue still exists in Jaunty

Last one from me, I've verified that this is not a change in alsamixergui. I am running the live distro right now for Hardy and installed alsamixer and it has all the controls that I'm looking for. I've attached the image as alsaright.jpg. Thanks all

That is because the default "card" has been changed to pulseaudio. Try alsamixergui -c0

I have adapted the unset_pulse_internal.patch from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/+source/alsa-utils/1.0.18-1ubuntu7 for alsamixergui. This should fix the problem.

Can I find instructions somewhere to apply this patch? I've only applied one or two patches so I'm not exactly sure how to do it. Thanks for the patch update
