Bug Description

Binary package hint: busybox

I need mdev for my costum initram. It is usefull tool. I wont have it at least in busybox and busybox-static packages.
In my patch it is CONFIG_MDEV=y.
May be CONFIG_FEATURE_MDEV_CONF, CONFIG_FEATURE_MDEV_RENAME, CONFIG_FEATURE_MDEV_EXEC should be enabled, but at the moment i dont need it, but it take not much place.

We definitely don't want this in the udeb.

Is there any reason you can't just use udev? I suspect it's more likely to work well on Ubuntu, and we use it in our initramfs.

Not really. mdev is smaller and simpler to use. It doesn't need any config files, it doesn't need proper bootstrapped /dev, it is not a daemon (for what on initram?).

This bug was fixed in the package busybox - 1:1.10.2-2ubuntu4

---------------
busybox (1:1.10.2-2ubuntu4) jaunty; urgency=low

  * [deb] Enable mdev; we don't use it in Ubuntu ourselves, but some users
    would like to (LP: #321312).
