Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I use S/MIME signatures in all my outgoing messages. It lets me send them just fine, but when I try to open any of them from my Sent Items folder (Exchange mailbox) it displays an error message on the bottom of the header area telling me what the subject line of this bug report reads. It also attaches the smime.p7s file to each one of those messages, but the content of the message is still perfectly readable and fine.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/evolution
Package: evolution 2.25.92-0ubuntu2
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: evolution
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-8-generic i686

I'm seeing the same error message, for every mail that is S/MIME signed (not only my own in the sent folder). The same mails were displayed correctly (with the trusted signature emblem) on intrepid.

Hi Sebastien,
yes this is reproducible. Every time I open a S/MIME signed mail I get an error message - and I know that these certificates are valid. Sorry, but I can't post these emails here...

I think this upstream commit to evolution-data-server might fix the issue

This appears to be an issue for any account in Evolution. I am unable to verify signatures on emails that I know are valid. Verified using the Outlook (sic) at work on an exchange and imap account.

I can't even open that link to "gnome-bugs #564465". I would like to apply that patch, but how? It says it's fixed by a "Patch by Milan Crha", but that's not what my Jaunty thinks. Is anyone else having the same problem of not being able to open that link? How do I apply that patch then?

Okay, after trying several times i finally opened it and got to the link to a patch. The patch is written to patch one of the source code files, hence pretty much useless to me since I'm not about to compile my own version of Evolution. I wonder why the patch hasn't been picked up already by Jaunty developers and included into the latest package?
