Bug Description

The Sitecom WL-603 USB wireless network adapter is compatible with the zd1211rw driver, at least since linux-2.6.27 --- except that its USB ID (0df6:0036) was not listed among the supported devices.

Just adding its USB ID to drivers/net/wireless/zd1211rw/zd_usb.c makes it work under Ubuntu 8.10, as reported here:

    http://www.nabble.com/usb-id-0df6:0036-not-yet-in-kernel-2.6.29-rc2-td21540039.html

I've applied the same patch as well, and I can confirm that the device works flawlessly.

However, the device is officially supported only since 2.6.29-rc3, with the following commit:

    http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=de2624966f9bc6ffafc4fd6555336fabc2854420

Is it possible to make sure that the WL-603 USB ID will be supported by the Ubuntu 9.04 kernel (even if it will not be linux-2.6.29)? It would allow Ubuntu to support a new piece of consumer hardware --- and save me the hassle of patching new Ubuntu kernels until 9.10 :-)

Hi Alceste,

Thanks for the upstream git commit id. The Jaunty kernel freeze is in a few days but I'll email the team and see if we can get this cherry-picked before the freeze. Otherwise we can likely get this in as a stable release update. Thanks.
