Kubuntu Dapper 20060312 cannot install on HP nw8240

Bug Description

Since Flight5 was not release for Kubuntu, I have downloaded Kubuntu Dapper daily install CD for 2006-03-12.

I was able to use it and install succesfully on my desktop (P4 with ATI Radeon 9100), but could not install on HP Compaq nw8240 notebook.

I was able to boot from CD, but the I just got Kubuntu logo with nothing else on the screen (no selection of different install options).
I cannot switch to text mode with Esc or switch text consoles - system is just hung.

On the same machine, I was able to install Kubuntu Flight 2 and 3 without problem and Flight 4 (but only when I switched to text mode / see bug 31974).

Since Kubuntu Flight5 is supposed to be released later, I would really like this bug to be addressed before that.

Flight 5 has been released do you still have this problem with it?

Just tested it with Kubuntu Flight 5 CD and the problem is still there.

Bug 34592 has reports for multiple systems, therefore it makes sense to mark is as duplicate of that (and not hibernate issue).
