Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdebi

When installing a package which depends on scrollkeeper (unversioned), and rarian-compat (which Provides scrollkeeper) is installed, gdebi forcibly uninstalls rarian-compat and installs scrollkeeper, causing a lot of dependency issues.

Installing the same package with dpkg -i does not cause this problem.

This can be reproduced on Jaunty by installing (for example) this: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24562564/ubuntu-docs_9.04.6_all.deb using gdebi.

I first experienced the bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-user-docs/+bug/281277/comments/13

Colin Watson confirmed this was a problem with gdebi rather than the package here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-user-docs/+bug/281277/comments/14
