Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal-info

i got this from a vendor ... some indentation doesn't seem right in the patch, but i figured that you usually edit the form for upstream too, so i didn't tackle that.

Any email address for the original author of that patch? It changes an existing entry

martin, this was wrong before (hence the "fix" in title); the fix comes from the modem vendor directly (ericsson).

Point is that the previous entry was wrong and doesn't match the right modem port. Can you dig up who submitted the initial hal-info?

ericsson modems bring up a net.80203 device for once you established a connection through AT commands. However, you usually don't want to manage that in the same way you would do with "normal" ethernet devices.

Anyway, this part is debatable. So if it makes you feel better, don't put it upstream, but _please_ keep it for ubuntu as modemmanager/NM are not ready to prevent those devices from being managed as normal ethernet devices yet.

-> thats about "Remove the net.80203 capability of mobile broadband devices" ... the rest is definitly good for upstream.
