shogun FTBFS because of python 2.6 needing stuff in dist-package:
dh_builddeb -pshogun-elwms
Found files in /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages (must be in dist-packages for python2.6).
debian/shogun-elwms/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages
debian/shogun-elwms/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/elwms.so
dh_builddeb: dpkg-deb returned exit code 1
make: *** [binary-makedeb-IMPL/shogun-elwms] Error 1

So it can't be a sync, except if the Debian maintainer changes the debian/rules to set a correct PYDIR variable while installing shogun-elwms

Changed in shogun (Ubuntu):
assignee: nobody → fabrice_sp (fabricesp)
status: New → In Progress
summary: - please sync shogun 0.7.3-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
+ please merge shogun 0.7.3-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

Debdiff with the merge.
Old changes has been adopted by Debian.
New change because of FTBFS with python2.6.

I am the debian maintainer. However, in debian not even essential packages like numpy exist for python2.6 yet. So there is no way for me to fix this as of yet in the debian package. If it is really only a site-packages / dist-packages change, things should be easy though just override PYDIR to point to /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages on make install.

Hi,

Sorry I didn't make the link between your name and the one in the changelog :-)

I saw that python2.6 is only in experimental in Debian. That's why I made the debdiff, and submitted it to Ubuntu.
Anyway, the change should apply also to python2.5 (still have to check if python.mk can be found in Debian's python 2.5).

Thanks for your work in Debian, without which we didn't had this package in Ubuntu :-)

Cheers,
Fabrice

This bug was fixed in the package shogun - 0.7.3-1ubuntu1

---------------
shogun (0.7.3-1ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * Merge from debian unstable (LP: #385795). No remaining changes.
  * debian/rules: set PYDIR for shogun-elwms to avoid a FTBFS
