Bug Description

Binary package hint: lsb

The printing requirements which got introduced to the LSB starting with version 3.2 are not an add-on. They are required to fulfill LSB 3.2 or 4.0 compliance. Therefore the "lsb" package MUST depend on the "lsb-printing" package and not only suggest it.

In the current case the "lsb" dependency in the printer driver packages downloadable from OpenPrinting only pulls the "lsb" package and so the presence of the printing requirements for the printer driver packages is not assured.

I have checked the proposed update for LSB 4.0 in Hardy
(4.0-0ubuntu0.8.04.1), and it does depend on lsb-printing. I will check
Jaunty later, when I can get to my Jaunty VM.

After checking, I've confirmed that the Jaunty version of the lsb package has this bug. Patch attached which will fix it. Will check status of Karmic.

This bug was fixed in the package lsb - 4.0-0ubuntu8

---------------
lsb (4.0-0ubuntu8) lucid; urgency=low

  * sendmail, debian/control, debian/rules, debian/lsb-invalid-mta.dirs:
    Added new binary package "lsb-invalid-mta" containing a fake
    /usr/sbin/sendmail so that the installation of LSB packages does not
    pull in an MTA any more, which once adds awkward configuration questions
    to the installation process and second adds an often unnneeded daemon to
    the system (LP: #141641).

  * debian/control: The LSB requires the printing environment already
    since version 3.2. Made lsb-printing required by the "lsb" package
    not only suggested (LP: #386128).
