Bug Description

When using the Send To function from a right click context menu, the dialog stays on screen and is static while the transfer is taking place. If this is a large file being moved to a USB or network drive this can cause problems as it can resemble a lock up or raise doubts about whether the transfer is taking place.

A time to completion or transfer rate indicator like the one used in the cut/copy function in nautilus would solve the problem nicely.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

This is more of a feature request , not a papercut.

A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the papercuts project.
For resolution of the bug, kindly identify the projects affected and assign the bug to that project, otherwise the devs of the concerned project might not be notified of this problem.

It's a shame this didn't make it as a papercut as i used the sendto for an ISO and figure it must be something people will bump into sooner rather than later. Even if they just copy a music directory to a thumb drive or something >20Mb

I hope this gets fixed for Karmic! Anyone offering mentorship on it?

This bug confuses users very much:

- If you copy a file to a network storage by drag-and-drop via nautilus-explorer the data transfer is reported in a progress bar and by an icon in the gnome panel.
- If you do the same transfer with the send-to-dialog, there is neither a progress bar nor a gnome panel icon. More confusing the send-to-dialog freezes until the date transfer has been finished (I copied 1 GB folder, that took roundabout 30 seconds, without any feedback to the user).

I've refiled the bug at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=598581 to see if it gets any love upstream.
I don't think invalidating it here does much good when the same amount of effort can be used to retarget the bug :(

Plus, if the files are already there, no message appears to replace/skip/rename them, they just aren't copied. The same happens if there isn't enough space.
