Bug Description

Binary package hint: libnb-svnclientadapter-java

New upstream version of svnClientAdapter should be included in Karmic. This is required for netbeans 6.7.

This looks good and I'm happy to upload it, I'm just wondering where the version number comes from. Wouldn't something with "svn4383" make more sense? I'm not opposed to 6.7, just surprised.

I also was thinking about the version when updated the package. Originally it was Marek's decision to use netbeans's version for svnclientadapter(6.0.1 initially). I guess it was a fork with some patches so netbeans's version was more appropriate. Now we don't patch anything so it make more sense to use something like "svn4383". But I am not sure it is ok for ubuntu to change version in such aggressive way (6.5 -> svn4383). Will something like (>=6.5) in debian/control work well after such change?

If the libnb-svnclientadapter-java upstream has not decided to assign a version number we could indeed use something like 0~svn4383. As that'd be < 6.7, we'd use an epoch and call the version number 1:0~svn4383. Also it's not in Debian yet, so we wouldn't have any problems introducing the epoch.

I'll leave the decision to you, I'm happy either way.

Thank you for the explanation. But I'd prefer to leave the version as is (6.7) for current release and change it in the future if you don't mind:)
