Bug Description

Binary package hint: wxbanker

Hello, I am the author/maintainer of wxBanker. The latest stable version is 0.5.0.0 and needs to be uploaded to Karmic. The code lives at lp:wxbanker/0.5 and the packaging at lp:~mrooney/wxbanker/packaging-0.5. The package can be built from these. There are translation updates so something as simple as a debdiff wouldn't be applicable. Let me know how to proceed. Thanks!

Subscribing U-U-S as I'm not sure what my next step is. Either someone can upload the package from the branches, or I can be given upload rights for this specific package would also be extremely helpful!

@Michael
You need to provide a diff.gz of the new version. I included a proposition for this diff.gz.

New tarball is also available by uscan.

Thanks Julien. That diff is only doing a diff of the debian/ directory
it seems, I am confused. Do diff.gzs work when there are binary files
changed like translations? I thought not.

Oh, I get it, nevermind, thanks for the start :) I'll make one with a
link to the upstream milestone so people can actually determine new
features and fixed bugs, and upload it.

Okay dearest universe sponsors, attached is a diff.gz to apply to the latest upstream via uscan / http://launchpad.net/wxbanker/0.5/0.5/+download/wxbanker-0.5.0.0.tar.gz

Thanks for your time and let me know if I can be of more assistance. Let me know when it is uploaded to Karmic and I'll do some QA.

Uploaded with some small changes. Thanks for your work!

Also it's important to include relevant packaging changes to the debian/changelog, not just the upstream changes (i.e. Add python-simplejson to Recommends).

You should close the Ubuntu bug in the debian/changelog. Although I forget that myself sometimes. ;-)

The current Standards-Version is now 3.8.2. We don't bother bumping it for packages also in Debian as it's not worth carrying the diff, but as this is an Ubuntu only package I did.

In your debian copyright file you refer to the versionless symlink license usr/share/common-licenses/GPL. I fixed that to point at GPL-3.

And finally, even though the package isn't in Debian and you are the upstream maintainer, Ubuntu packages generally should have the maintainer field set to Ubuntu Developers <email address hidden>.

Thanks for your time and detail Andrew! I'll make those changes in my
packaging branch as well so there are less changes necessary in the
next release.
