Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

When I attempt to connect to Vodafone Live via my Nokia N95, I get the message
   GSM Network
   Disconnected

Doing serial debugging results in the attached file. The problem seems to be a serial command timing out. I know the USB cable is more or less OK, since I can list the folders on my phone using "obexftp -u 1 -l".

Removed ubuntu-unr tag since this bug does not appear to be specific to UNR. If you know of some reason why it would be specific to UNR, please feel free to add the tag back in and explain why. Thanks!

OK, this is appears to be a regression in network-manager from Jaunty. I downgraded network-manager to the version from jaunty and now connecting to the internet via my N95 works, even using bluetooth. This is my current setup:

$ dpkg -l | grep network-manager
ii network-manager 0.7.1~rc4.1.cf199a964-0ubuntu2 network management framework daemon
ii network-manager-gnome 0.8~a~git.20090818t151413.a8b7eed-0ubuntu2 network management framework (GNOME frontend)
ii network-manager-pptp 0.7.1-0ubuntu2 network management framework (PPTP plugin)

$ dpkg -l | grep blueman
ii blueman 1.20+r446~karmic A Graphical bluetooth manager

$ cat /etc/apt/preferences
Package: network-manager
Pin: release a=jaunty
Pin-Priority: 1001

This bug and its duplicate both occur on a device connected as ttyACM0 and have the same error message. They probably relate.

Here the same problem. I was with 9.10 and suddenly, I couldn't connect any more.
Then I add ppa network manager, and nothing. Then I updated to 10.04 and I still here, without connection.
