Not sure if you are asking me to upload an mp3 file and / or how that relates to copyright? I have thousands of properly tagged mp3 files. Surely you have one to test with?

Up until recently, the album art was correctly displayed when played in Rhythmbox. Songbird displays the cover art correctly. I deleted the .rhythmbox directory from my /home, but that had no effect.

Also, rhythmbox does not seem to have native support for displaying cover art and this functionality is exposed through the cover art plug-in. When a track starts playing, the plug-in appears to search, displaying a spinning progress meter for a short while. The previous behavior was to immediately display the tag's embedded image.

I don't have an mp3 with album art included in the id3 tag that's why i'm asking for one, otherwise i wouldn't. But feel free to send this directly upstream since you're facing the issue and could reproduce it there locally, for instructions on how to do it please read: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME ; Thanks in advance.

Hi!
Same Problem here with Rhythbox 0.12.4 on Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 5.
Here is a MP3-File with embedded Picture, ID3-Tag V2.3, ISO 8859 Charset.
I own the copyrights myself, its Song from my Band NION.
Btw, if you like the Music, you can spread this to your Friends especially at big recordcompanys ;-)

Kind Regards

Flywaver, is hasn't been fixed on Ubuntu yet, the status of the report is Fix Committed because it was on the upstream git repository, as soon as we release a fix for Ubuntu (package) the status of the report will be Fix Released, so no the bug is not fixed on Ubuntu yet.

I'm curious before opening another bug. I have Rhythmbox 0.12.5 with Karmic, and it does display cover art (so far) from mp3s but if there is more than one image in there, it doesn't select the one marked as "cover (front)" by EasyTag. For instance, I may have an image of the back of the CD with the songs listed, and also one of the cover. The back may be listed as "leaflet" or even "cover (back)" but the front is "cover (front)". These are presets in Easytag, so I'm assuming they are standard and exist to tell the client which image to use (assumption, I know), but Rhythmbox seems to get confused when more than one exists.

Does 0.12.6 deal with this as well?

This is confirmed fixed upstream with rhythmbox (0.12.6-0ubuntu1). It will never be fixed in Karmic 9.10 as it wasn't submitted as a SRU. Waiting for Lucid or upgrading via .deb is the only way to have this fix on karmic.

Ugh. This is a problem again in rhythmbox 0.12.7. The first selected track shows the cover art. However, subsequent tracks on a playlist do NOT. Filed Bug #532179 in regards to this, but I think I'll mark that one a dupe and pursue the issue here.

I'm not quite sure if anyone is reading this post, because it's an old thread, but i'm currently using Ubuntu 11.04 with Rhytmbox Version 0.13.3 an i've got the same problem: There are no covers displayed although they are in my ID3-Tags. Formly i was using Ubuntu 10.04 with the 0.12.6 Version of Rhythmbox. There were no Problems. So, what can i do?

Yes, this is happening to me too. Rhythmbox only fetches the ID3-album art of about 50% of the albums I'm listening to. In Banshee or iTunes, this isn't happening.

I also have this very weird and exhausting problem as well!! But for me, it seems like Rhythmbox only shows cover art directly from Last.fm and displays a label "Image provided by Last.fm" when I hover over with mouse...
The most annoying thing is that I HAVE id3 covers in my mp3 collection which has about 1000+ songs and they are all bought from Ovi Music _without_ DRM... If Last.fm doesn't have cover art for an album or song, it doesn't display any artwork, which is really frustrating, since it _is_ embedded in the files :/ I am running latest Fedora 15 (Lovelock) and latest Rhythmbox they provide in the repositories (currently, 2.90.1)
Can _anyone_ try to fix this? I am certain there is a problem in the plugin that loads cover art, and like others said; the covers are loaded perfectly in any other application, be it Itunes, Banshee, or whatever... The thing is, I really like Rhythmbox with the smooth transitions between tracks and the great Gtk3 look, I just wished the damn covers could load properly!
