No equivalent to polkit-gnome-authorization in policykit-1-gnome

that you are referring to. It was a poor interface, and moved the decisions away from
where they are used.

looks like i've got related issue. yesterday i've upgraded to karmic beta and there's no authorizations application in system/setting at all. so the problem is when authorisation window pops up, trying to click on link org.freedesktop...(saying click here to change auth settings) does nothing and i cannot change authorisations at all. i don't know if this is the case for fresh authorisations, but for an upgraded system this is quite disturbing especially since i've granted some permissions couple of days ago and now they're revoked and i cannot re-add them.

I've the same problem.
It's a poor interface but it's better to have a poor interface with many options than a poor interface with no options.
Isn't there a way to install an old version or will it give problems with Ubuntu Karmic?

What does "move away from" mean? They just removed this and there's no way to change those things now? I'm trying to allow logout when multiple users logged in...

@Ernst: Provided I've got it right, the current auth settings tool referes to the deprecated version of policykit. The new settings cannot be maintained by that tool. In order to regain the functionality, a new tool must be written or the deprecated one must be adjusted in a way that it supports policykit-1

I second this, there definitely needs to be a way to configure policykit-1 authorizations with a GUI. Better have a poor graphical tool than none.

Is there any why to change settings without this GUI ?

this user-interface command is : "gnome-policykit" ; package is "policykit-gnome" ; you can install and run it manually. I don't know exactly for settings. Have a look at policykit with you favorite search engine.

Most of the packages of Ubuntu 9.10 use policykit-1, but policykit-gnome is the user-interface to the settings of the older policykit (without the -1). So it is pretty useless. For policykit-1, no such user-interface exists, because this tool was not ported to policykit-1.

But policykit-gnome depends on policykit and not policykit-1. Maybe there is some kind of conflict between them.

This is another example of Ubuntu going backwards. I now have to enter a password for each processor in order to scale-back the power to Powersave (using "CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor 2.28.0"). Can this be fixed?

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

- This is not a simple change that can be done. A new tool needs to be written to make this possible again. Its a bigger task to be considered a papercut.
