Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 in Ubuntu 910

Bug Description

I have a Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 and it seems to be there

when I type
sudo lsmod | grep -i gspca

  I get

gspca_sonixj 20796 0
gspca_main 22812 1 gspca_sonixj
videodev 36736 1 gspca_main

but when I run Camorama I get error -
camera light goes on
then the message "Unable to Capture Image" with the only option being close which shuts Camorama and off goes the cam light??

I cant bring the cam up in anything
Any ideas???

   Same symptoms here... Besides, I can see a gspca error in /var/log/message

Same here. Tried with cheese and I only get a green screen. Been like that since 8.10. 1 year and not fixed. I have a logitech that works, but not the MS one. Same kernel but 32 bit.

This bug does not affect camorama. It affects the kernel. I tried kernel 2.6.32 and it appears to fix the problem.
We'll have to wait until this kernel is integrated to karmic ...

In the meantime, you can still install it manually:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
