Running compiz X11, Thunderbird, skype and firefox open. Screen went blank, then was at the gdm login screen. Logged back in, was like a fresh login. Nothing in /var/crash.

Similar crash. System dropped to a terminal for a few seconds, then pulled up GDM login.

This is on a fresh install of 9.10 where I just added a 3ware RAID card & enabled compiz again. Prior to those changes, the system has been stable for 2+ months.

ubuntu 9.10, i386
compiz 0.8.4
virtualbox 3.1.2
nvidia video
same consolekit info as the OP

I was actively typing in Flock but also running chrome, virtualbox, exaile, jungledisk, a small number of utilities, and had the RAID card doing a migration in the background. Mem use was probably around 80%.

Third of these crashes in the past two weeks. In at least two of the instances, the console-kit errors were preceded by a segfault in virtualbox (v 3.1.2 r56127). Whereas this system is normally stable, these recent crashes are happening after just a couple days of uptime.

My money is on old_session being corrupted in change_active_session in src/ck-seat.c,
or rather that seat->priv->active_session is being accessed as another thread is freeing it,
or that it is just NULL in the first place. It's not obvious to me where this is happening though.

I don't think this will actually be causing X to crash or anything, it's just a warning that the
code is doing something wrong.

Thanks,

James
